Yesterday I turned in my admissions application and financial aid application to Northwestern Technical down in Rock Springs.  If all goes well I should begin classes on September 30th.  I still don't know which classes I will need and which are covered by what I've taken over the years, but once NTC has my "official" transcripts I can get with the academic advisor thing.  They operate by the quarter there so I should be able to finish at the very most in three quarters.  Possibly two, if I'm lucky.  I really hope they take the algebra course I had at UTC way back when, since if there was ever anyone who was absolutely not wired for math it's me.  My old ACT scores are a hoot -- 30's in English and Social Studies, 12 in Math.  Oy.

I've been running around so much the last few mornings that Boo and Fuzz are all over me right now, thinking I'm going to jump up and leave any moment.  Boo is constantly nudging my hands and arms, wanting me to pet him.  And giving me long interrogative stares as if he's trying to figure out what's going on in my head.  If I stare back at him he meeps.  Oh the constant feline mind games...

Joyfulness abounds, as last night was payday.

Cassini recently sent back a pic of the moon Mimas that looks uncannily like the Death Star.  It's really quite amusing.  I wonder if anyone's done a fake report of finding TIE fighters...

Grr.  Small furry maniac is now toppling over piles of stuff on my desk in diabolic attempts to get me to play with him.

My opinion of Kerry's speech last night -- every candidate says they're going to clean up the act at the White House.  All of them have been corrupt.  They're all crooks.  Absolute power.

Like I've said before, you can't bribe an asteroid.  If any of these people were really thinking long term the first thing they'd do in office is call in Dr. Zubrin, ask him how much he needs for Mars Direct, add thirty percent and approve the funding by executive order ASAP.   The second thing to do is to fund hydrogen infrastructure construction ASAP and give the auto makers two years to begin offering hydrogen fuel cell cars.  After that, impose fines on every gasoline-powered car they make that doesn't get at least 50 miles a gallon.

I'm faced with the depressing conclusion that once again there's no one I'd be willing to vote for and so I'm forced to vote against.
