I went to see the Doom movie last night. Five people in the theater, I was the only woman. At one point I had the almost undeniable urge to shout "Ludicrous Gibs!" when this one monster got blown up and was dripping from the ceiling, but I figured no one would get the joke. "Ludicrous Gibs!" is from another similar game, Rise of the Triad, which I was rather fond of around the same time I was playing Doom. In some ways it was better than Doom. It had way better weapons, magic 'shrooms, bouncy pads, wings, Dog Mode, and when you shot something just right it would explode and drip from the walls prompting "Ludicrous Gibs!" to appear at the top of the screen. But Doom, of course, beat it out because ... well, I don't know why. Because you could mod it, I guess.
Yeah, there's nothing like shouting out phrases from ten-year-old obscure video games to get people looking at you funny. So I didn't. Oh well. A missed opportunity, I guess.
RotT also had this solo "tag" game mode where you could chase these triangle things around and blast'em, with nary a gore encrusted wall in sight. I spent hours playing that one. Oh well.
Nothing much to report otherwise, except that my pirate outfit is now ready for Halloween, including my Flying Spaghetti Monster. See pic above.
Further bulletins as events warrant.
