So much, so much, so much I want to do...
So. I have decided that I will decline Mushroom's offer to print my book via their POD outfit, since (a.) I checked my contract and they only hold the electronic rights, not the print rights, and (b.) I like doing all this myself and this way I can eliminate the middleman, and (c.) I'm a control freak.
I like doing all this stuff. I like doing the covers (with that snazzy cover art Ursula did for me, naturally), I like wrestling with the text file and the PDF files, the whole nine yards. It's my book. What better way to be sure it gets done to my satisfaction than to do it myself?
And hold on to your hats, people, because I am tempted to do Aquaria as well. I've been seriously thinking about it. I'd probably have to cut it in two or else people would be paying $30 for the thing since it's 190,000 words, but still... I can do this now.
And I need to order some copies of CoS, and send off two with the form and the $30 to get the copyright thing, and then do the same for Aquaria if I do it... Somehow get the money together to get ISBN numbers because there's no way in hell I'm not going the whole enchilada so these babies can be sold through every retail outlet known to man... $150 each for those barcodes, muchachos.
Went to the Library the other day and asked about how do I donate a copy of CoS for the library collection. I have to take them a copy for their review process. If they like it, it goes in the stacks. If they don't, it goes to Friends of the Library. Why they can't just give it back, I don't know. Oh well.
A bit on the monetarily cramped side at the moment, though, as I had to go pay my tuition and fees at school and they don't allow installment payments. That's $263 I wasn't expecting. Well. It had to be paid. I'm not giving up on school. Fourth time has to be the charm. I'm getting out of this game with something official to my name if it kills me. I've got an A+ hardware tech certification for technology that was obsolete 5 years ago and a few semi-pro publications and that's it. A nomination for an award for fan-fiction. (How do you consider a nomination for excellence in an activity that people consider to be illegal, anyway? Is it a bad or good thing? It's sort of like winning an award at DefCon -- I mean, do these guys put stuff like that on their resumes? "Took first place honors at DefCon for Network Intrusion." I mean, sure, you're tickled pink you won and in some circles it's an impressive achievement, but how exactly do you sugarcoat it to make it a selling point and not a potential admission of crimes that can get you 5 - 10 years or at least a severe lack of bandwidth? )
Anyway.
So I have several letters to do for my last module in Technical Writing and the final. Five days in which to do them. No problems. Did a Powerpoint presentation today for my second speech thingy, I hope that will be enough. Never did get hold of a video camera. I'm not going to sweat the small stuff. I did good work on the presentation thingy, and I've got to move on. We're almost down to the wire.
Well. Boo is giving me long inquisitive stares and picking at my arm. Since he's had his dinner I must assume he believes it's time to go to bed.
