Well, I just submitted my final exam in Technical Writing. Then had to send a message asking why some assignments I submitted weeks ago still haven't been changed from zeroes to a grade. Oh well. Need to go send off two letters, but otherwise I'm done with it. A day ahead of schedule even.
Saturday morning I had to go take one of the stray kittens in to be euthanized. He'd gone blind. His eyes looked like they were filled up with blood or tissue or something, and I could wave my hands in front of him and he didn't even blink. I know it must have been painful, and he wasn't eating anymore. So I didn't know what else to do, considering I couldn't afford what would undoubtedly have been many hundreds of dollars of care. And personally I don't think there was anything the doctors could do. So. I still feel like the lowest form of scum on the planet. They're not technically my cats, but I still feel responsible. My mom says to quit feeding them and they'll go away. Uh-huh. Sure they will. Physically, maybe. One way or another. But I'd have to live with myself afterward, and I'm not sure I could. Or that I'd want to live being the kind of person who could do that to a bunch of hungry kittens. I may act stoic, but that doesn't mean I am stoic. In point of fact I'd love to be far less emotional than I am. It would make my life a hell of a lot easier. Cruelty isn't the Jedi way. I couldn't just quit feeding them. It violates not only the Code but my conscience. So I'm stuck supporting the feline population explosion.
Ignoring a problem in hopes it will go away must be a Conservative thing. The Emperor has no clothes. Actually you'd better hope the Emperor has clothes. The whole wrinkly pasty greenish look is bad enough when it's just a face in a black hood. When it's the schlep giving the orders... well. A safe and secure Galactic Empire indeed...
Well. I guess I'm off to go mail those letters and stuff.
Sniggling fribbleits.
